“Untitled Novel” – Possible Titles (and my reasoning about each)

So, yeah. This novel has been done (after a fashion) since 2012 and is currently in its second (and final) editing phase. Through all this, it has never had a title. The closest has been the “working” title I’ve been calling it while I work on it. “The Doctor’s Tale” works okay when I’m checking my notes or boring my wife to death with my ramblings, because I/we know what I’m talking about… If I were to publish it under that name it’d cause all sorts of problems. So, now that I’m nearly done with editing, I should pick a name…

So after the break you’ll find a list of possible titles, what I like about them, and what I don’t like about them. Feel free to chime in and give an opinion (either through WordPress directly or (if you know how) via text/e-mail/etc!

The Seals of Silence

Like: Reference to Revelations, references the Guardian and the Seals she watched (this isn’t revealed in book one), their “opening” is what’s causing all this chaos

Dislike: Sounds kind of religious, references something barely mentioned in the book (only in the last chapter), probably fits book 2 better

The Seal of Darkness This is a favorite

Like: Reference to Revalations, seems appropriately ominous, Darkness and Chaos are often synonomous, Vaguely implies there are other Seals (there are) and that future books will discuss them (they will)

Dislike: Still kinda vague, seems kinda cliched, might not stand out

The Final Seal

Like: Definite Revelations connection, Sounds appropriately apocalyptic

Dislike: Sounds WAY too religious

Aldarof Saga: Part 1

Like: Reference to the Nibelnung, sounds “epic” enough for fantasy, distinct (google came up with little), means “end of an age”

Dislike: Saga sounds epic but also cliche

Aldarok Chronicles: Book 1 This is a favorite

Like:Reference to the Nibelnung, sounds “epic” enough for fantasy, distinct (google came up with little), means “end of an age,” “rok” makes it sound harsher, Chronicle makes further stories obvious but is less “generic” than saga.

Dislike: Still kinda cliche, “Book 1” is kinda plain

Aldarok Chronicles: The Doctor’s Tale This is a favorite

Like: Reference to the Nibelnung, sounds “epic” enough for fantasy, distinct (google came up with little), means “end of an age,” “rok” makes it sound harsher, Chronicle makes further stories obvious but is less “generic” than saga.

Dislike: Still Kinda Cliche, might be misleading, might “muddy” the overall story or the specific parts
