As promised last week, here the other half of the Warcraft related poetry I finished. These are the Horde races and there are more of them. Though I might be a double agent and bounce between the factions, my heart will always lie with the Horde and these reflect that preference.
As before I warn that while these were written in an uptick of interest and understanding of poetry, they are still a clumsy attempt at best. I tried, and got closer than ever before, but I was (and am) unpracticed and unrefined. Please keep that in mind when reading…

Poetry didn’t really click with me for a long time. I studied it in high school like most did, but it never really made much sense to me. I knew it had something to do with imagery and rhyming, except when it didn’t. I couldn’t quite wrap my head around it, especially what the rules were and when/why they could be broken. Even after the first 2/3rds of college I still couldn’t quite grasp it. Then, in the middle of a literature class (not a writing class) it suddenly seemed to click and I felt an overpowering urge to play around with the imagery and structural styles of poetry.
It was a time when I was borderline obsessed with World of Warcraft and the Cataclysm expansion was right on the horizon (or possibly had just come out) so that places the timeframe somewhere around late 2010, maybe a month or so into 2011 at the latest. Looking back, I don’t know if I truly understood poetry nearly as well as I thought, but I certainly tried… Thinking about it now, in 2016, I find the attempts charming and fun in their own right despite not being sure if they’re well made or not.
The plan was, at the time, to write 23 poems at the time. One for each playable race at the time, one for each of the two factions, and one for the Cataclysm expansion. In the end I only completed seven of them: one for the expansion, two for the Alliance faction, and four for the Horde faction. Below, you will find the former two types (expansion and Alliance), the Horde poems will be posted at some point in the near future.
